Cloud-Based Access Control

Traditional access control stores users and schedules on a local panel or server. When someone is hired, fired, or locked out after hours, staff often need to be on site — or VPN into an aging PC in a closet.

Cloud-based access control keeps a controller at the door and puts the database, software, and reporting in a hosted platform. Administrators sign in from a browser or a phone. Changes push to the doors in minutes. Firmware and feature updates come from the manufacturer instead of a weekend server upgrade.

What the system actually does

  • Issue and revoke cards, fobs, or mobile credentials remotely
  • Set schedules and groups by door, floor, or building
  • See live events and pull audit reports without extra software
  • Unlock or lock a door for a vendor without driving to the site
  • Manage several buildings under one account
  • Tie door events to cameras and intercoms when the project needs it

Mobile credentials matter on most new jobs. Staff open a door with a phone (Bluetooth or tap) instead of another plastic card. Lost phones can be disabled the same day. Cards and PINs still work where a phone is not the right credential.

Platforms we specify

Media Nexus designs around commercial cloud platforms, including ProdataKey (PDK) and Brivo, when they fit the building and the client’s IT policies.

PDK is a mobile-first cloud system: readers and a cloud node on site, management in PDK.io or the phone app, unlimited mobile credentials on typical systems, and an open API for video and other tools. It is a strong fit when the client wants simple day-to-day management and fast adds/removes.

Brivo is a broader cloud security suite: access control plus optional video, visitor management, and identity connections (SSO / directory sync). It is a strong fit when IT wants one dashboard across many sites, instant revocation, and credentials tied to existing user accounts.

We do not force a single brand. Door count, multi-site needs, video integration, and who will administer the system decide the platform.

When cloud is the right call

  • More than one building or a remote manager
  • Frequent staff or tenant turnover
  • No appetite for an on-site server
  • Need to open a door or pull a log from a phone
  • Plan to add cameras or intercoms later

On-premise panels still make sense for some isolated or highly customized jobs. For most offices, schools, apartments, and HOA amenities, cloud is the cleaner path.

Media Nexus handles design, installation, programming, and training so facilities or property staff can run the system after handover — not only during the first week.

Smart Technology

Connected systems let commercial facilities monitor and control AV, lighting, climate, access, and security from one platform. We design these integrations around how your building is used — so staff get reliable automation without extra complexity.

Efficient Systems

Well-designed technology reduces wasted energy and unnecessary hardware. We specify commercial-grade AV, lighting control, and networked systems that support efficient operations and can scale as your facility grows.

Fresh Solutions

We stay current with the technologies that matter in commercial spaces and partner with leading manufacturers to specify what actually fits the project. The result is practical systems for corporate, hospitality, education, retail, worship, and other commercial environments.
